WEDNESDAY
* South Coast Highway: A resident in the 31000 called police at
3:25 a.m. after swallowing two mouthfuls of hydrogen peroxide,
thinking it was water. Police connected her to poison control, who
said she had nothing to worry about.
TUESDAY
* Ninth Avenue: A resident in the 31000 block reported at 8:12
p.m. that his $2,500 bike was stolen from his closed garage some time
in the morning while he worked.
* Ocean Way: A resident in the 1900 block told police at 4:21 p.m.
that a mail carrier had been harassing her dogs. She also asked for
an animal services officer.
* Bonn Drive: A resident in the 3000 block told police that a
large rattlesnake was in the house at 4:18 p.m.
* Forest Avenue: Police got a call at 2:16 p.m. that a man 50 or
60 years old had been playing his saxophone for the last hour at the
corner of South Coast Highway and Forest Avenue.
MONDAY
* Shaw’s Cove: Police arrested a 46-year-old Hemet resident on
suspicion of being drunk in public after receiving a call that a
woman was out on the rocks at Shaw’s Cove obviously drunk at 4:28
p.m. The caller was right, police said.
* South Coast Highway: Police arrested a 61-year-old Dana Point
resident on suspicion of drunken driving after a call at 10:35 p.m.
that he’d almost sideswiped some cars at South Coast Highway and Nyes
Place.
SUNDAY
* Temple Terrace: A resident in the 1200 block wanted some advice
from police after having dislodged a bay dove from its nest at 1:06
p.m.
* Cozumel Drive: Police arrested a man on suspicion of possessing
less than an ounce of marijuana and of being under the influence of
narcotics after finding him on the roof of a building lying in a
fetal position with his eyes wide open in the 100 block at around 3
a.m. Officers had responded to a report that a suspicious person was
smashing windows.
SATURDAY
* Main Beach: Someone reported that a man was trying to lure
children into a fort he had built on Main Beach at 5:18 p.m. Police
found neither a lurer nor a fort.
* Laguna Canyon Road: Police received a call at 4:10 p.m. that a
pit bull puppy kept running across the street near the 900 block,
causing several drivers to slam on their brakes.
* South Coast Highway: A resident called police from the 400 block
at 11:10 a.m. because a girl 14 to 16 years old was selling cookies
without a permit.
AUG. 22
* Monterey Street: A resident in the 31000 block said a purple
hearse with a coffin in the back was parked in front of her house at
4:16 p.m. She said she wanted it moved if possible because some
teenagers were coming over soon who shouldn’t see it. She said she
believed the hearse belonged to a “hippie” who owned a head shop.
* Glenneyre Street: An employee at an insurance company in the
1100 block said an injured squirrel was in his office at 9:49 a.m.
Animal services couldn’t catch the squirrel, so officers called
Critter Catchers to deal with it.
AUG. 21
* Brooks Street: Police arrested a 32-year-old Santa Margarita
resident on suspicion of drunken driving in a motor home. She was
reportedly swerving. An officer responded to the corner of South
Coast Highway and Nyes Place after a call from a cell phone reporting
a possible drunken driver. The woman, who was talking on a cell
phone, pulled over without waiting for the officer to flash his
lights. When the officer knocked on her window, the woman jumped and
closed the drapes. Police had to enter the motor-home forcibly.
AUG. 20
* South Coast Highway: An employee at a Chevron station called
police saying that a woman was repeatedly yelling at him about the
price of gas. He said she might be drunk. Police couldn’t find the
woman.
