The Mesa Verde Partners team moved a step closer to winning the City
of Laguna Beach Community Services Department’s Summer 16-inch Slow
Pitch Softball’s Wednesday League title by virtue of a 9-3 victory
over Courtesy Auto Body at Riddle Field.
Dave Sommerville delivered a three-run home run and Phil McManus
gave up eight hits -- all singles -- to lead Mesa Verde.
It was the sixth consecutive win for Mesa Verde.

Sports World 13, Sammy’s Burgers 2
Sports World remained a game behind Mesa Verde in the league
standings with a blowout against Sammy’s Burgers.
Bill Toon led Sports World’s offensive prowess with three home
runs, which led to seven of his team’s runs.
John P. McMurray added to the Sports World cause with a pair of
homers, a double and walk and Craig Brashier homered.
Mitch Kruger threw an eight-hitter to get the victory.
Greg Kain homered and singled twice to lead Sammy’s Burgers.
