Mesa Verde takes showdown from Sports World

Mesa Verde Partners assumed sole possession of first-place in the
Wednesday League standings by taking a showdown from Sports World,
11-7, in the City of Laguna Beach Community Services Department’s
Summer 16 Slow Pitch Softball play.
Mesa Verde scored five of its 11 runs behind home runs from Dave
Sommerville, Scott Henderson and Jeff Greenough and run-scoring
singles by Steve McKinley and Ryan Neptune.
McKinley also blasted two home runs and walked and Greenough hit a
two-run home run in the first inning.
Sports World received a two home runs from John P. McMurray which
accounted for four RBI and consecutive home runs in the third inning
by Craig Brashier, Paul Corey and Teo Moore.
In another showdown, this one to avoid the Wednesday League
cellar, Courtesy Auto Body shaded Sammy’s Burgers, 5-4.
Nat Pivaroff ripped three home runs and was credited with five
RBIs and Courtesy Auto Body leadoff batter Emilio Bennet singled
twice.
Arlin Reed paced Sammy’s Burgers with a solo home run.
