WEDNESDAY * South Coast Highway: Police arrested...

WEDNESDAY

* South Coast Highway: Police arrested an Indiana resident at 3:20

a.m. on suspicion of drunken driving. He and a woman allegedly took a

cab from the Montage Resort to their car at the corner of Nyes Place

and South Coast Highway and asked the cab driver to guide them out of

the city.

TUESDAY

* Cresta Way: A resident in the 3000 block called police at around

9 p.m. saying a neighbor’s pit bull had gotten out of the backyard

again. The resident had helped Animal Control get the dog back into

its yard at 7:51 p.m. before it escaped again. Its owners weren’t

home.

* Diamond Street: A resident in the 300 block called police at

5:15 p.m. reporting gardeners using leaf blowers in the area.

* Main Beach: A visitor at Main Beach reported that a man was

peeping over and under bathroom stalls at 5:49 p.m. He said the man

was wearing a blue hat and an earring in each ear. Police found no

one matching the description in the area.

* North Coast Highway: An employee at a gas station in the 100

block said a man in his 40s had come in obviously drunk and asked to

use the bathroom. When denied, the man reportedly said he was going

to put a bullet in the employee’s head. Police are investigating.

* Forest Avenue: A man came into the police station at 1:49 p.m.

and said he wanted to talk to an officer about his son. He said his

son had died because of drugs he had bought in Laguna Beach. No crime

report was taken.

* Lower Cliff Drive: A resident in the 200 block called police at

12:52 p.m. saying a neighbor played drums in his garage all day long.

After other complaints, the neighbor said, the drummer would stop

playing when officers showed up and start again when they left.

Officers asked the drummer to stop at 1:28 p.m., which he did. There

were no reports of the drummer starting again.

* South Coast Highway: A visitor at Thousand Steps Beach called

police at 8:08 a.m. saying the remnants of a computer, including a

smashed monitor, were littering the stairs about halfway down. Orange

County Beach Maintenance responded to clean up the mess at 8:26 a.m.

* South Portola: A 13-year-old Colorado resident visiting her

grandmother reported to police that she had been molested at a summer

camp in Malibu on Aug. 8. She said she had been left alone with a

male nurse in one of the camp’s cabins and was molested repeatedly.

Laguna Beach police took a report, but transferred the investigation

to officers in Malibu.

MONDAY

* Mar Vista Road: The son-in-law of an 80-year-old resident in the

31000 block asked police to check on her welfare at 8:47 p.m. because

she wasn’t answering her phone. She told police at 9:45 p.m. that she

was fine and wasn’t answering her phone because she didn’t want to

talk to her son-in-law.

* Grandview Street: A resident in the 200 block said he and his

daughter found two tampons soaked with a pink substance outside his

home at 6:56 p.m. He found one on the windshield of his car, he said,

and his daughter found one near the front door and brought it in the

house asking what it was.

* Chateau Way: A resident in the 2800 block reported a threatening

voicemail laced with profanity left on her cell phone on July 17 from

a woman saying she had to get a divorce or else.

* Forest Avenue: A bronze sculpture valued at $5,050 was reported

stolen from Wyland Galleries sometime Saturday night. Police are

investigating.

* Bonn Drive: A resident in the 3100 block reported that a 3- to

5-foot rattlesnake was in his driveway at 4:47 p.m.

* Ocean Front: A resident in the 1200 block said several subjects

were having sex on his beach property at 12:20 a.m. Police arrived at

1:32 a.m. and found no sex in progress.

* South Coast Highway: An officer heading north near Ruby’s saw a

speeding car heading south without its headlights on at 1:51 a.m. The

officer made a U-turn and followed the suspect, who initially sped up

and then stopped near the intersection of 4th Avenue and South Coast

Highway. The 32-year-old Corona del Mar resident was arrested on

suspicion of drunken driving.

SUNDAY

* South Coast Highway: A resident in the 31000 block said he heard

either a shot fired or fireworks coming from the beach, adding that

he saw about 10 people drinking from a beer bong and about 20 more

gathered around the drinkers at 9:22 p.m.

* Ruby Street: Police arrested a 45-year-old Laguna Beach resident

on two outstanding warrants after the suspect fought with someone he

said had attacked him with a machete at 8:43 p.m. During an argument,

the suspect said the man he was fighting pulled what he thought was a

shotgun from his car. The suspect grabbed at it and cut his hand. The

man with the machete said he was an artist, used the blade strictly

for his work and had no intention of using it against the suspect.

The outstanding warrants were for driving under the influence of

alcohol and probation violation. No action was taken against the man

with the machete.

* Mountain View Drive: A resident in the 3000 block called police

at 9:32 a.m. saying smashed eggs were on his Jaguar for the third

time in recent weeks. The last time it happened, he said, the eggs

damaged his car. Police found two more cars that had been egged in

the area at 10:08 a.m.

* South Coast Highway: A husband and wife sleeping in their room

at the Hotel Laguna awoke because of a noise, saw someone flee the

room and found $2,300 worth of merchandise missing at 4:46 a.m. A CD

player, digital camera and jewelry were among the claimed losses.

Police found no suspects.

AUG. 8

* Table Rock Beach: Police and firefighters responded in the 31000

block when a man reportedly fell 15 feet from a rock while taking

pictures at 5:57 p.m. By 6:10 p.m., the victim was standing on the

rocks and appeared fine. He sustained no injuries.

* Nestall Road: A man walking through the neighborhood in the 3000

block spotted a small fire on someone’s porch, stamped it out with

his foot and discovered it was a bag of dog feces. The doormat was

destroyed.
