TUESDAY
* Laguna Canyon Road: Police arrested a 35-year-old Laguna Hills
resident after he was reported having followed a 19-year-old for
three blocks and grabbed her breasts. The victim was able to escape
to her home in the 2600 block at 9:17 p.m. and called police. Police
detained the suspect, who was positively identified by the victim. He
also had an outstanding warrant for kidnapping.
* Carmel Court: A resident called police at 5:48 p.m. saying
another resident was making terrorist threats over the phone. The
victim told police the caller warned him that he owned a handgun, and
then said, “It’s on.” Police are investigating.
* Alta Vista: A resident said he saw a coyote with a cat in its
mouth across the street from his house in the 3100 block late Monday
and asked that his sighting be documented to encourage neighbors to
be on the lookout for more coyotes. He reported the incident at 2:08
p.m.
* Divers Cove: Police found an 18-year-old Phoenix resident
wandering the streets in the 600 block at 4:10 a.m. She said she
didn’t know where she was staying and was arrested for being drunk in
public.
MONDAY
* South Coast Highway: A person in the 700 block reported at 8:02
p.m. that a transient was passed out on a couch in the alley and
feared a car might hit the man. Police arrested the Costa Mesa
resident for being drunk in public and contacted Municipal Services’
to pick up the couch.
* Cypress Drive: A resident in the 200 block called police at 7:22
p.m. saying her neighbor had stolen her mail Saturday and again on
Monday. She added that he’d used her bathroom with her consent. She
said she’d had ongoing problems with her neighbor.
* Del Mar Avenue: A resident in the 1700 block told police at 2:49
p.m. that someone with access to her home had stolen an $8,000 watch.
She said she noticed the watch missing on July 25. Police are
investigating.
* South Coast Highway: Police questioned a woman they believed had
taken three credit card checks from the trash and charged more than
$5,000. Police didn’t have enough evidence to arrest the woman, but
are investigating her.
* South Coast Highway: Two co-workers at a business in the 1400
block, who police said had a history of problems, had a dispute in
which one accused the other of putting bleach in her water. The
accuser reported at 9:31 a.m. that a water bottle was placed in her
vicinity that was murky and diluted, and felt her co-worker was
trying to poison her. The other woman denied the claim, and police
didn’t find any evidence of malicious intent.
SUNDAY
* Glenneyre Street: A resident in the 2200 block allegedly bit her
husband of 13 years on the upper arm at around 9 p.m. The victim said
his wife bit him after a long argument. Police made no arrests.
* Cliff Drive: Police received a call from a trolley driver at
7:42 p.m. saying five to 10 people had thrown beer cans at the back
of the trolley, striking its windshield. Police saw no suspects in
the area of the 300 block.
* Laguna Canyon Road: Police received a call that $530 worth of
seascape tile paintings had been stolen from a booth at the Sawdust
Festival at around 2:50 p.m.
* South Coast Highway: A resident reported his friend visiting
from Iceland missing at 10:48 a.m. He told an officer his friend had
been missing for about two hours at around 3 a.m. and the officer
told him to report it to police in the morning if he was still gone.
* Noria Street: A resident reported at 11:47 a.m. that a skunk was
on her front porch in the 1000 block that looked like it was dying.
SATURDAY
* Crescent Bay Beach: Police arrested an 18-year-old Laguna Hills
resident for possession of Vicodin without a prescription and cited
two minors for possession of alcohol at around 11 p.m. Police had
responded to a report that kids were drinking on the beach.
* Broadway: Police received a call at 11:06 a.m. of possible lewd
conduct in the men’s bathroom from a passerby who saw two men enter
one stall. Police interviewed the reporting party, but found no lewd
conduct and made no arrests.
* Cliff Drive: Police arrested one man and cited another for lewd
conduct at Heisler Park at around 2:30 a.m. A 67-year-old Dana Point
resident was arrested for performing oral sex upon a 41-year-old
Laguna Beach resident. Police said it was the second time in two
weeks the 67-year-old had been caught at Heisler Park doing the same
thing.
JULY 25
* Fisherman’s Cove: A Lake Forest resident was cited for trying to
remove sealife from the area at 5:30 p.m.
* Mar Vista Drive: A resident admitted she purposely drove her car
through a garage in the 31000 block because she believed it was a
meth lab. Police arrested the 49-year-old on suspicion of felony
vandalism and resisting arrest. Police found no evidence of the
garage’s use as a meth lab.
JULY 24
* Bern Drive: Police arrested a resident in the 3100 block on
suspicion of willful cruelty to a child when he allegedly lifted his
17-year-old daughter by the throat and threw her. The suspect’s wife
said her 14-year-old son told her his dad had been drinking and was
afraid he’d hurt somebody. He reportedly choked his daughter when she
told him to leave her room.
* South Coast Highway: Police arrested a 31-year-old Irvine
resident for unauthorized use of another’s credit cards, fraudulently
obtaining another’s credit cards and identity theft in the 30000
block at around 2 p.m. The suspect was taken to Orange County Jail
and held on $30,000 bail.
