Season ends for All-Stars
Huntington Valley Little League’s Major Division All-Star team had
its baseball season come to an end in a 7-5 loss to Tustin Western in
the Section 5 Tournament played at Curtis Park in Mission Viejo.
Huntington Valley got off to a quick start in jumping to a 4-0
first inning lead.
Barry Luke and Nick Mazzone started the game with consecutive
singles and singles by Race Parmenter and Tim Higgins led to three
runs. Tanner Phillips later grounded out to score Higgins.
In the second inning, Huntington Valley scored again when
Parmenter’s double drove in Devin Huskins who had reached base on a
fielder’s choice.
Tustin Western came back and eventually tied the game in the fifth
inning, then gained the victory when, with two outs and two strikes
facing him in the bottom of the sixth, Brandon Dupre hit his second
home run of the game.
Phillips and Richard Levinson made outstanding catches in the
outfield and Higgins caught a line drive and turned it into a double
play with bases loaded for Huntington Valley.
The loss was the second to Tustin Western, which defeated the
locals, 3-0, in a first-round game of the double-elimination event.
