Special meetings set for Temple Bat Yahm
Temple Bat Yahm will hold special sessions at 7:30 p.m. today and
Aug. 15 for those struggling with pain, illness, broken
relationships, grief and other difficult transitions.
The special services, titled “Healing of the Soul,” will take
place at the temple, 1011 Camelback St., Newport Beach. For
information, call Rabbi Rayna Gavurtz at (949) 644-1999.
Cancer foundation will host volunteer session
The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation will hold an
orientation for volunteers from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at its Orange
County headquarters at 3191-A Airport Loop Drive, Costa Mesa.
Volunteers are needed for Race for the Cure and fund-raising
events. More than 2,000 volunteers participate annually.
The orientation will open with a presentation about the foundation
and information about breast health. Sessions on specific programs
and volunteer opportunities will follow.
The foundation will hold the race on Sunday, Sept. 28, in Newport
Beach. In its 11 years, the Orange County race has raised more than
$9 million; about 75% stays in the county for local breast cancer
outreach, education, screening and treatment programs.
Reservations are necessary. For more information, call (714)
957-9157.
