More than 300 guests attended Huntington TV station KOCE-TV’s

fourth annual Aristeia Awards on Friday, May 9th, 2003 at the Four

Seasons Hotel in Newport Beach. The event honored three of Orange

County’s finest citizens. Ed Arnold and Ann Pulice served as Masters

of Ceremonies for this special event. Among those present was Maria

Hall-Brown from “Bookmark with Maria Hall-Brown,” a weekly series

that reveals a personal side of popular authors and their stories ...

Shelly Kerr of Huntington Beach, a junior at Mater Dei High School,

has been selected to participate in the Gilette Company, Economics

for Leaders program being conducted at the University of Colorado,

Boulder, Colo.... Bree Anne Aseltine of Huntington Beach graduated

with a bachelor’s degree from Seattle Pacific University ... Sommer

Zermeno was presented the Gladys M. Crown Memorial Nursing Award for

spring 2003 at the Golden West College Nursing program graduation.

Candice Ishikawa of Huntington Beach was named to the 2003 spring

semester dean’s list at Simmons College ... Kaylee Beutel of

Huntington Beach was named a Top Cookie Seller for the Orange County

Girl Scouts for 2003. She is a member of troop 1962 ... Navy Lt.

Cmdr. Charles P. Good, son of Carol and Phillip W. Good of Huntington

Beach, and Navy Seaman Courtney R. Crawford, daughter of Cathy L. and

Bill C. Crawford of Huntington Beach, recently returned from the

Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf while assigned to the aircraft

carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt ... Capt. Rick Barbarossa of

Huntington Beach, has recently been named as the director of

operations for the Defense of Freedom Foundation, a nonprofit,

educational organization based in Newport Beach.
