Elderly couple robbed in their home

An elderly couple was bound and robbed in their Huntington Beach

home last week by a man who entered with phony questions about

landscaping before brandishing a shotgun.

Police are still looking for the robber, described as a black male

in his mid-30s of medium height and build. He was reportedly wearing

dark clothing and carrying an unidentified handgun.

The robbery occurred at 4 p.m. June 26 at the couple’s home in the

4000 block of Trumbull Drive.

A man knocked at the door, and when the husband answered, began

inquiring about landscaping services, police said. He then shoved his

way into the home with a shotgun and bound the 75-year-old man.

As the robber was ransacking the man’s property, his wife, 60,

entered the house and was also tied up, police said.

After the robber fled, the wife was able to free herself and call

the police. The robbery is still under investigation.

Anyone with information on the incident should call Huntington

Beach Police Det. Tom Gilligan at (714) 536-5940.
