Sea Kings finish fourth

The Corona del Mar 18-and-under girls water polo team finished fourth

in a tournament completed Sunday at Huntington Beach High.

After defeating Huntington Beach Friday, 9-6, CdM handled Mater

Dei, 14-4, and Capistrano Valley, 17-3, Saturday.

Sunday, however, CdM lost a semifinal clash with SoCal (primarily

comprised of players from Foothill High), 16-5.

CdM then fell to Laguna Beach, 11-10, in the third-place game.

Katya Eadington scored two goals to pace the attack against SoCal,

while Jordan Anae posted a team-high five goals against Laguna Beach.

Eadington added three goals against Laguna Beach, against which Amy

Strack had one goal, three steals and two assists.

Against Capo Valley, Vivian Liao and Tracy Kubes had three goals

apiece, while Chelsea Lyman, Natalie Wayte, Anae and Eadington added

two goals each.

Anae had four assists to pace the winners, who were led in steals

by Ashley Chandler with four.

In the victory over Mater Dei, Liao scored five goals, followed by

Anae with three. Katie Kubes and Eadington added two goals each for

CdM.

Lyman and Anae each had two assists against Mater Dei, while

Eadington amassed a team-high five steals.

Keisey McCormick had five saves against Mater Dei.

In Friday’s action, Liao, Eadington and Anae had two goals apiece,

while Eadington made five steals, Liao four and Anae three.

McCormick made two saves against Huntington Beach.

CdM followed up the tournament with a 9-5 loss to Foothill in a

summer league game Monday at El Toro High.

Eadington had two goals and Brittany Fullen made six saves to pace

CdM Monday.
