TUESDAY
Main Beach: Police arrested a 32-year-old Laguna Woods resident
wearing an Osama bin Laden T-shirt on suspicion of being drunk in
public. Police received a call at 12:01 p.m. of a suspicious suspect
staggering on the beach. The suspect said he’d taken a Paxil and then
drank some beer and a fifth of vodka.
MONDAY
South Coast Highway: Police arrested a man on an outstanding petty
theft warrant after they found him passed out on a bench at the
corner of South Coast Highway and Bluebird Canyon Drive. The suspect
said he’d been drinking vodka all day. He was taken to Orange County
jail.
SUNDAY
South Coast Highway: Police arrested a 53-year-old resident on
suspicion of possessing cocaine after officers found him face-down
and unconscious in front of the Village Market gas station at 7:56
p.m. Firefighters roused the man and found a bindle containing a
small amount of cocaine in his wallet when looking for his ID. He was
taken to Orange County jail on $10,000 bail.
Glenneyre Street: Police arrested a 32-year-old attorney under
suspicion of drunken driving after a car hit her Audi at the corner
of Brooks and Glenneyre streets at around 2 a.m. The attorney
reportedly stopped at the stop sign on Brooks Street, then proceeded,
possibly thinking it was a four-way stop, and was hit. Neither party
was injured.
Ocean Avenue: Police arrested a 30-year-old resident on suspicion
of being drunk in public after seeing him stagger along the road,
have a conservation with himself, then fall face-down on the pavement
at about 1:45 a.m.
Ocean Avenue: Police arrested a 34-year-old Downers Grove, Ill.
resident on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after he
allegedly smashed a bottle over a 33-year-old Laguna Niguel
resident’s head at 1:22 a.m. The victim said he had bumped into the
suspect accidentally. The suspect said, “What are you looking at?”
and pushed him. The victim, a personal trainer, said he pushed back
and was then struck by the bottle. He tried to retaliate with a
punch, but mistakenly hit another party. The victim suffered several
cuts on his head that required stitches.
SATURDAY
Morningside Drive: Police received a call from a resident in the
1200 block saying he’d found a machete in the gutter. Police seized
and destroyed the machete.
Davis Way: Police had to break a 16-year-old’s car window and
physically shake him before he awoke and was cited for possession of
less than an ounce of marijuana. Police found the 16-year-old asleep,
clearly breathing, in a parked car with the radio on at 12:24 a.m.
Officers knocked on the window, shone their flashlights in his face
and shook the vehicle while yelling for about four minutes before
breaking the passenger window. He finally responded to being shaken
by officers, who said he smelled like alcohol and found marijuana in
his pocket. The suspect’s mother picked him up. A juvenile detective
is investigating the case, Sgt. Jason Kravetz said.
