The 2003 District 55 Little League All-Star tournament begins this
weekend with competition in three different divisions.
The 9/10, Majors and Junior All-Star division double-elimination
tournaments begin Saturday with play at four different sites in south
county.
The Senior All-Star tournament begins July 5 at Chaparrosa Park
and is hosted by Rancho Niguel Little League.
District 55, which covers the southern part of Orange County, is
comprised of the following 19 little leagues: Laguna Beach, Aliso
Viejo, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Lake Forest, Newport Beach,
Northwood, North Mission Viejo, Rancho Mission Viejo, Rancho Niguel,
Rancho Santa Margarita, Saddleback, San Clemente, San Juan, South
Irvine, South Mission Viejo, Tijeras Creek, Trabuco Canyon and Viejo.
The 9/10 tournament games will be played at Tijeras Creek Sports
Park and is co-hosted by Tijeras Creek and Rancho Santa Margarita;
Majors Division games will be played at Curtis Park and hosted by
Rancho Mission Viejo and the Junior tournament will be played at
Windrow Park and hosted by South Irvine.
Tournament brackets were not announced until Thursday, following
Wednesday night’s managers’ meeting.
All Laguna Beach All-Star teams begin tournament play on Saturday.
The league will be looking for its first-ever district
championship at any level.
The following All-Star teams are the reigning champion in their
respective divisions:
9/10 -- Aliso Viejo
Majors -- North Mission Viejo
Junior -- Viejo
Senior -- Aliso Viejo
Following the All-Star tournaments, the Majors Section 5
tournament will begin July 19 at Curtis Park, with Rancho Mission
Viejo serving as the host league.
