Seaview teams set for Minor A final

It will be an all-Seaview affair in the title game of the District 62
Little League Tournament of Champions Minor A Division final.
Seaview, represented in the tournament by the unbeaten Pirates and
Yankees, had both teams advance to the final after scoring
semifinal-round victories Monday.
The Pirates, who won the Seaview Minor A crown, improved their
season record to 25-0 Monday with a 4-1 victory over Robinwood No. 1.
The title game was played Wednesday night at Huntington Valley
Little League.
Seaview Yankees 10, Ocean View 0 The Yankees scored a mercy rule victory over the Dodgers, the No.
2 entry from Ocean View, to reach the championship game.
Tony Giovinetti was solid on the mound as he allowed just one hit
in three innings. Relief pitcher Brett Bryant closed on the mound as
the game was halted after four innings by the 10-run rule.
Matt Kibby led the offense with a double and single, Jonathan
Kenny doubled and Giovinetti, Brandon Hastings, Jonathan Steele,
Nolan Heyer and Eric Sickle each singled.
In addition to beating Ocean View, the Yankees have defeated Costa
Mesa American and Robinwood in tournament play.
Seaview Pirates 10, Westminster 0
Nick Pedavilla, Charlie Miller and Drew Daily combined on a
one-hit shutout to send the Pirates onward.
The trio struck out eight in a game halted in the fourth inning by
the mercy rule.
Daily and Scott Orel each had a two-RBI double and Pedavilla, Ryan
Bleile and Alexander Barone each singled to start an early Pirates
rally.
In earlier tournament action, the Pirates defeated the Huntington
Valley Padres, 7-4 and the Robinwood Reds, 4-1.

Robinwood 10, Costa Mesa American No. 2 0
Mitch Huffman delivered a grand slam during an eight-run third
inning as the Reds, champions of Robinwood, rolled past the Costa
Mesa American Mariners in a game halted by the mercy rule after four
innings.

Minor B Division
The Tigers, the No. 2 entry out of Ocean View, won their first
three games to advance to the division final against the No. 1 team
from Costa Mesa National.
The Tigers edged Costa Mesa National’s No. 2 team, 4-3, in
Monday’s semifinal round.
An all-Ocean View final was denied by Costa Mesa National which
won Monday’s other semifinal game by outscoring Ocean View No. 1,
13-10.
The division final was played Wednesday night at Huntington
Valley.
Ocean View No. 2 13, Fountain Valley 3
Nolan Biegel and Christian Abe paced a potent offense and the
Tigers turned in an error-free game on defense in downing Fountain
Valley.
Biegel and Abe each came up with three hits off Dodgers pitching.
Clayton VanDoren and Abe shared pitching duties for the Tigers and
were backed by key defensive plays by Jack Strickler, Brandon Wooten,
Matt Butler, Christopher Smith and Greg Schooley.
Ocean View No. 2 12, CM American 3
A nine-run fifth inning by the Tigers distanced them from Costa
Mesa.
Rory Magee started the decisive inning with an RBI.
