Newport Beach team gains in gold

On the heels of gaining “gold team” status for next year, the Orange

Coast United’s Newport Beach Rush under-11 girls soccer team won the

Whittier Tournament on Sunday.

The girls outscored their four opponents, 21-1, in winning all

four games.

The Rush, the only girls under-11 team from Newport Beach or Costa

Mesa that will compete in the Coast Soccer League’s gold club

bracket, join seven other Southland teams .

OCU Rush formed four years ago because families wanted a

more-advanced level of soccer for their children without the pressure

to succeed as can happen in other club soccer organizations.

Team members include: McKenzie Brown, Jordan Dillion, Samantha

Feinstein, Alison Gordon, Kaylee O’Connor, Jennifer Penunuri, Hayley

Raguse, Natalie Rempalski, Brianne Richards, Ashleigh Smith, Maria

Swift, Jennifer Vogal and Marta Tena.
