Newport Harbor emerged victorious at the Corona del Mar Pony Baseball

Father’s Day baseball tournament for 14-year-olds with a 6-1 victory

over the hosts on June 15 at Eastbluff Park.

Harbor’s pitching, including starter Drew Harris and relievers

Jarrett Daniel and Nathan Todd, limited Corona del Mar to four hits

and struck out 12.

Offensively, Newport Harbor scored in five of the seven innings,

collecting 10 hits and striking out just twice.

Tom Southern got things started for Newport Harbor with a solo

home run in the second inning.

After Corona del Mar tied the score in the bottom of the second,

Kyle Rohan’s base hit scored Harris for a 2-1 lead, which Newport

Harbor never relinquished.

Daniel drove in the third run of the game for Newport Harbor with

a double to the fence, then retired the first six batters he faced

after relieving Harris on the hill.

Base hits by Starnes Arnold, Harris and Todd in the sixth inning

increased the lead to 5-1. P.J. Errington finished off the scoring in

the seventh inning when he came home on a hit by Bryce Stillman.
