ON THE AGENDA
Here are a few of the items the Planning Commission will consider
tonight.
PARKING LOT PERMIT
Shaheen Sadeghi, authorized agent for Harold Cozen, is applying
for a permit to pave a vacant property at 708 and 714 Randolph Ave.
for use as an off-site parking lot for “The Lab.” Sadeghi has been
informally using the gravel-surfaced Randolph Avenue properties for
Lab overflow parking for several years. He now proposes to improve
the lot and to credit these off-site spaces for future uses at the
Lab.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Staff supports the off-site parking lot because it is next to the
site. It will serve and provides pedestrian access without having to
cross a street or another property. But staff members are concerned
with Sadeghi’s proposal to credit this parking toward permanent
improvements at the Lab. Staff recommends approval, subject to
conditions.
CARWASH PERMIT
James Simon, authorized agent for Carl Stevens, is applying for a
permit to establish a hand carwash and detailing business, including
outdoor work, at 1619 Superior Ave.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Staff recommends approval, subject to conditions. Due to the small
size of the property for the type of use proposed, staff members are
recommending as a condition of approval that no queuing of customer
vehicles occur within the public right-of-way. It is also recommended
that the auto detailing portion of the use be by appointment only to
minimize potential on-site circulation problems.
FAIR PARKING PERMIT
Becky Bailey-Findley, authorized agent for Russell
Tieman/Experian, is applying for a permit for off-site parking at the
Experian parking structure for use by Orange County Fairgrounds
patrons during the Orange County Fair, weekends only, with a shuttle
service included. The parking lot is at 475 Anton Blvd.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Approval will allow off-site parking for the fair at times that
will not affect employee or visitor parking for Experian and will
reduce traffic congestion in the vicinity of the fairgrounds,
officials say.
