Mann selected to U.S. junior national team

Former Corona del Mar High standout John Mann, who plays water polo
at UC Berkeley, was selected to the U.S. junior men’s national team
and will represent the United States at the world championships in
Naples, Italy, Aug. 8-17, USA Water Polo announced Thursday.
In addition, five former UC Irvine players were named to the U.S.
national team and will represent the country at the FINA World
Championships next month in Barcelona, Spain. UCI products Genai
Kerr, Omar Amr, Jeff Powers, Dan Klatt and Ryan Bailey were picked to
play on U.S. Coach Ratko Rudic’s 13-man roster.
On the lower levels, Clay Jorth, who will be a freshman at Newport
Harbor High in the fall, was selected for the U.S. cadet 16-and-under
team, while Ensign products Clinton Jorth and Nathan Castillo made
the U.S. national youth 14s squad.
