Breaking news can come in the form...

Breaking news can come in the form of almost any situation. In the

Newport-Mesa area, the biggest news story of the day could be the

surf or, like this week’s photo, a boat sinking.

Although the situation is a serious one, especially for the owner

of the vessel, seeing a boat sink is interesting. People from all

over the island came to watch workers try and salvage the boat.

There isn’t that much to see though. The most interesting stuff

happens below the surface, where divers use inflatable devices to

raise the sunken ship. Maybe if I had a water camera and wetsuit

handy, I could have captured the drama below in the murky waters of

Newport Harbor.
