Some special events going well in town

LAGUNA LIFE

Help! June gloom is holding us hostage. How many more of these

dreary-drizzling days lie ahead? Quick Dennis, we need a prediction.

My brother John says it won’t get sunny until mid July. JP, as he

is otherwise known, recently made and donated a Balsa Surfboard to

the Boys and Girls club. That was the night’s second biggest ticket

-- it was auctioned off for $5,500 dollars. Hey John, keep up the

good work and next year, you never know, maybe even Barbara Diamond

will mention you.

In other news, a big thank you to the Coyote Grill, Papas Taco’s,

Ganahl Lumber and South Laguna Skate and Surf Shop for sponsoring the

Strolle Volleyball tournament over Memorial Day weekend and

congratulations to Josh Englander and Chris Whitting for their

winning efforts.

In the corrections department: Laguna Beach’s legendary ‘70s

surfer Mike Armstrong stepped in as a guest columnist for me a couple

of weeks ago but wasn’t introduced as the writer. His column, you may

remember, was a detailed childhood account of growing up in Laguna

Beach on the famed Shadow Lane.

Wild Oats is celebrating “Men’s Health month” this weekend at its

Laguna Beach store. Come on down and check out the “Aloha School of

Surfing” booth while you’re there!

Join the Surfrider today and keep our beaches clean!

“Happy Father’s Day dad.”

One Love -- Peace.
