Pirates reign in Majors play
The Pirates became the undisputed Majors Division champion at
Huntington Valley Little League by virtue of scoring a 12-0 victory
over the White Sox.
The Pirates take the division’s No. 1 seed into the upcoming
District 62 Tournament of Champions that will be played at Huntington
Valley.
Tim Higgins and Nick Mazzone combined on a no-hitter. The pair
struck out 12 and allowed just one walk.
Higgins also starred on offense with a two-run home run and
double.
Alex Talbert’s big offensive game included a pair of doubles,
Mazzone finished with two hits and Richard Levinson doubled.
In other games:
A’s 13, Angels 0
Race Parmenter tossed a complete game no-hitter to power the A’s.
Parmenter struck out 12 and was denied a perfect game by two
fielding errors by the A’s.
Offensively, Weston Stevens tripled and scored a run, Trevor
Springman had two hits and scored twice.
Angels 14, Dodgers 0
Jake Augeri had three hits and Dillon Petrarca pitched a complete
game with five strikeouts as the Angels overpowered the Dodgers.
John Olive, Wade Carden and Eric Frempter each had two hits and
Garret Keadle doubled.
Diamondbacks 7, A’s 6
The D-backs scored two runs in the sixth inning in this battle for
second place.
The D-backs advance to compete in the upcoming District 62
Tournament of Champions.
Matt Reza’s triple in the bottom-half of the inning scored two
runs as the D-backs wiped out a 6-5 deficit.
Devin Huskins and Tanner Phillips also tripled and Barry Luke and
A.J. Guerra each doubled for the D-backs.
Race Parmenter hit his fifth home run of the season to begin the
game for the A’s.
Parmenter finished three for three with three runs scored and
Trevor Springman and Bennetv Allen each had two hits.
Diamondbacks 10, Angels 2
The D-backs continued their hot hitting as Mike Pellegrino tripled
and Devin Huskins and Tanner Phillips each doubled.
Trevor Carberry and Luke Holler combined to four-hit the Halos.
Cody Johnson doubled and Dillon Petrarca, Garret Keadle and Brock
Butlett singled for the Angels.
Dodgers 7, White Sox 3
The Dodgers trailed, 3-0, heading into the sixth inning and
rallied to score seven runs to grab the victory.
Brad Schultz and Matt Humphries each had hits and Christian Slaton
and Houston Hill combined to strike out seven.
Bradley Hansen’s double and single and a double by Jordan Singh
lead the Sox.
Pirates 12, A’s 0
Tim Higgins and Nick Mazzone ended the regular season with a
three-hit shutout for the champion Pirates.
The two struck out 12.
Higgins also produced two hits including a double, Mazzone and
Dalls Scott each doubled and Huntington Hardesty singled, doubled and
scored a run.
Conner Reynolds, Jon McBeth and Jon Miller each singled for the
A’s.
At Ocean View Little League:
Yankees 5, Cardinals 1
Slater Davies had an RBI double, Deondre Moss had an RBI single,
Kory Kovac hit a ground rule double that scored two and Jesse Mestas
stole home to lead the Yankees.
