Sluggers get past Stallions in close one

Philip Sahagun tamed the SoCal Stallions on five hits and the Mizuno
Sluggers held off their nationally-ranked opponent to score a 1-0
victory in 13-and-under Club baseball action at Marina High.
Sahagun’s strong performance included eight strikeouts as the
Sluggers defeated a team that won the recent SuperSeries State
Championship tournament title.
The game’s lone score came in the fourth inning when Trevor
Brigg’s delivered an RBI single.
The Sluggers finished seventh overall in the SuperSeries State
Championship tournament won by the Stallions.
The Sluggers won their tournament pool and advanced to the
championship round behind the pitching of Carl Eberts, MJForsberg,
Scott Baxter and Kyle Hughes with Sahagun coming in to close out
three games.
The key tournament win came over Yorba Linda as Ebert’s line-drive
double scored Hughes with the winning run in a 3-2 decision over
Yorba Linda.

All-American Angels 6, Rally Monkeys 5
Madison Hickman, Karly Tahti and Carly Bradford each had two hits
to lead the All-American Angels.
Kelynn Mullaly, Casey Africano, Sarah Wood and Alex Cook also had
key hits for the Halos.
Nicole Zapotoczny hit a home run and Lauren Deats had two triples
led a Rally Monkeys’ attack that saw Emma Fitzsimmons and Dana Kerins
each finish with two hits.
Deats pitched two scoreless innings for the Rally Monkeys.
Rally Monkeys 9, Green Maniacs 8
Lauren Deats had two hits including a two-run home run and Nicole
Zapotoczny, Kendall Buchoz and Dana Kerins each had two hits for the
Rally Monkeys.
Tara Stuhr, Emma Fitzsimmons, Ilyssa Gatchis and Natalie Rowerdink
each singled.
Sydney Kelley went three for three, Jill Messersmith, Lindsay
Stovall and Amanda Sneed each had two hits and Savannah Roy, Nicole
Watkins and Megan Pasternack each singled for the Green Maniacs.
