Newport boy will compete in national competition

Grant Davis of Newport Beach has qualified for the finals of the

Pepsi Pitch, Hit & Run competition which will be held at Edison Field

prior to the Angels game against the New York Mets on June 14.

Grant currently plays for the triple-A Giants in Newport Beach

Little League. Grant qualified by winning the local level individual

skill competition, for 9- and 10-year-olds, in running and pitching

held in Newport Beach. He then was the overall Champion in the

Sectional finals with a score of 902 points. As a sectional champion,

he became one of only four eligible for Major League Baseball Team

Championships and the opportunity for the ultimate dream come true, a

trip to the All-Star game in Chicago for the national finals.
