Hoag Cancer Center to hold survivor party

The Hoag Cancer Center will host its 15th annual Celebration of

Life for 400 local cancer survivors, their families and friends from

2 to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The outdoor afternoon celebration will include a magic show, art

therapy, entertainment and refreshments.

“The Magic of Life” provides an opportunity for cancer survivors

to catch up with friends and fellow survivors. Reservations are

Costa Mesa to host public budget workshop

Costa Mesa will conduct a budget workshop for community members at

6 p.m. Tuesday in council chambers. The city manager and finance

staff will conduct a budget briefing for residents to review the

2003-04 proposed budget.

The meeting will focus on the proposed revenue and expenditure

recommendations made to the City Council and on proposed significant

budgetary and service level changes from the 2002-03 adopted budget.

The council will discuss the proposed budget at its study session

Arthritis Foundation receives $23,000

The Women’s Auxiliary of the Arthritis Foundation has donated

$23,000 to the foundation for community service programs and $2,000

to Camp Esperanza, which is for children with arthritis.

The Women’s Auxiliary held an April fund-raiser at the Costa Mesa

Hilton. More than 200 took part in the silent auction, luncheon and

fashion show.

New softball league welcomes seniors

There is a new senior softball league in the area for players

older than 65. Games will be at 10 a.m. Mondays at Bonita Creek Park

at La Vida and University Drive in Newport Beach.
