Mohs Memorial event features local standouts

Newport Harbor High’s Mike Toole and Kristin McClune, as well as

Corona del Mar’s Eric Jones and Claire Allen will be among several

athletes competing in today’s Dave Mohs Memorial Orange County

Volleyball All-Star matches at Edison High.

The Dave Mohs Memorial All-Star event, in its 27th year, begins

with the girls match at 6 p.m. and the boys match will follow at

approximately 7:30. Ticket prices are $6 for adults and $3 for

students and children.

McClune, a 6-foot-3 middle blocker bound for Pepperdine

University, and Allen, a 6-1 outside hitter headed for UC Irvine,

will be on the South team. The North squad features Ocean View’s

Jenny Kuehn, who lists Orange Coast College as her school of choice

next season.

In the boys match, Toole, a 6-foot outside hitter bound for Cal

Poly San Luis Obispo, will play for the North team, which also

features UCI incoming freshmen Jayson Jablonsky of Esperanza and

Brett Reid of Edison.

Jones, the 6-6 middle blocker headed to Stanford, will represent

CdM on the South squad.
