WEDNESDAY
* Morningside Drive: A man reported seeing a rattlesnake against
the curb in the 1100 block at 5:36 p.m. Police arrived at 7:59 p.m.
and saw no snakes.
* Broadway: A woman reported that her two nieces had a homeless
man buy liquor for them at 2:50 p.m. in the 200 block.
* Nyes Place: A woman drove her car into a telephone pole at
South Coast Highway and Nyes Place at 11:12 a.m. She wasn’t seriously
injured, and Edison reported that the accident caused no wire damage.
* Crescent Bay Drive: A woman who had been fired reportedly made
threatening remarks to her former co-workers, prompting a police
investigation. An employee at a business in the 100 block reported
the incident at 10:44 a.m.
TUESDAY
* Magnolia Drive: A resident in the 300 block reported at 7:12
p.m. that she suspected her neighbor of peeping in her window. She
added that her underwear had been disappearing for the last three
years, and she wouldn’t be surprised if the same suspect was at
fault. Police filed a report, but made no arrests.
* Linden Street: An employee reported that a suspicious person
carrying a large stick was practicing tai chi behind the Girl Scout
House at 4:08 p.m. When police arrived, there was no one there.
* Lower Cliff Drive: A gardener was caught using a leaf-blower in
the 200 block at 1:09 p.m. He said he didn’t know they weren’t
allowed in the city. He was advised not to do it again, and he said,
“OK.”
* Alta Laguna Boulevard: A male and female were first cited for
parking illegally in the 3200 block, and later received misdemeanor
citations for carrying less than an ounce of marijuana.
MONDAY
* Glenneyre Street: Police arrested a 29-year-old man for
identity theft, credit card theft and forgery. His bail was $20,000
for all three crimes.
* Park Avenue: Police making a pedestrian stop in the 200 block
at 6:05 p.m. arrested a 34-year-old Laguna Beach resident on warrants
for littering and possession of alcohol on the beach. His total bail
is $1,346.
* South Coast Highway: A Montage Resort employee reported at
11:17 a.m. that someone had broken in over the weekend and stolen
miscellaneous construction equipment.
* Wesley Drive: A resident in the 21000 block reported that his
wife was assaulted by a man who was engaged in a court dispute with
the wife wife at 10:45 a.m. He accused the man of throwing a rock
that hit her in the leg, and that his car had been vandalized the
previous evening. He suspected this was also done by the same man. He
asked that the police regularly patrol the area for further crimes.
SUNDAY
* Forest Avenue: A man called the front desk of the police
station saying something about a bomb, but hung up when transferred
to an officer. Police called the claim unfounded.
* South Coast Highway: After getting in a fight in front of the
Sandpiper Bar at around midnight, a 21-year-old man was arrested on a
warrant for urinating in public. His bail is $2,500.
MARCH 22
* Flora Street: A resident in the 500 block reported that a man
on a motorcycle was continually revving his bike and blowing his
exhaust into several neighboring homes at 12:29 p.m. Police
responded, but found only a parked motorcycle with nobody near it.
MARCH 21
* South Coast Highway: An employee at Laguna Pete’s reported that
a soda machine had been damaged and apparently broken into at 8:04
a.m.
MARCH 20
* South Coast Highway: A man holding a “Bomb Saddam” sign and
screaming obscenities at Main Beach was asked to leave when he became
confrontational with passing motorists. He complied at about 6 p.m.
* Laguna Canyon Road: An employee at an auto shop in the 1900
block reported having done $1,600 of work on a person’s van without
being paid at 3:40 p.m. He was advised by police to take up the
matter in a civil court.
* South Coast Highway: A woman reported a hit-and-run in the
30000 block at 3:20 p.m. She said her parked Toyota Corolla had
apparently been hit while she was at work.
* Alta Vista Way: A resident called police at 5:57 p.m. claiming
his neighbors might be terrorists because they drove nice cars that
had out-of-state plates. He also found it suspicious that they had no
lights on in their house and a garage full of boxes. Police reported
to the scene at 6:18 p.m. and found people, including some visiting
from Seattle, doing work on shelves in the garage.
MARCH 19
* Ocean Avenue: A female left her ATM card in the machine at
Wells Fargo Bank and said someone withdrew $300 from her account at
11:13 a.m.
