Carlson picks Princeton

Corona del Mar High senior Danielle Carlson has verbally committed to

play water polo for Princeton University next season.

Carlson received her acceptance letter about two weeks ago and

made her decision shortly thereafter.

“I’m plan to live in California the rest of my life after

graduation, so I think it will be fun to go back East for four

years,” said Carlson, who will join CdM teammate Jessica Harkins at

Princeton.

Carlson, who has made the All-CIF first team three consecutive

years and is expected to make it four, was deciding between UC

Berkeley and Princeton.

She also swims for CdM, but said she will concentrate solely on

water polo at Princeton. Carlson scored a team-high 85 goals as the

Sea Kings won their second consecutive CIF title in water polo with a

10-5 victory over Villa Park March 1. Carlson scored six goals in the

championship game.
