Tars drop opener, 6-2

The Newport Harbor High baseball team came within, 3-2, after four

innings, but visiting Aliso Niguel scored three runs in the seventh

to pull out a 6-2 Sea View League opening win over the Sailors

Friday.

Junior Karo Makserjian and sophomore Matt Erickson scored one run

each in the bottom of the fourth, on a fielder’s choice and an error,

respectively, for Newport (2-5).

The Sailors will face host Ocean View today at 1 p.m. in a

consolation game of the Newport Elks Tournament.
