UCI starting pitcher Glenn Swanson gave the Anteaters a commanding
performance on the mound, but fell to 1-3 on the season as the
Huskies shut out UCI 2-0 Friday at Anteater Ballpark.
After allowing two runs on four hits in the top of the second
inning, Swanson retired 21 in a row with eight strikeouts and no
walks to pitch a complete game for UCI.
Washington starting pitcher Sean White threw seven innings,
striking out seven and limiting UCI to four hits to earn his third
win (3-3) for the Huskies. The save went to reliever Brian Carter,
who struck out two in two innings.
UCI outfielder Chris Klemm had two of UCI’s hits with a single and
a double while Matt Falk hit 2-2 on the night as the Anteaters
managed just five base runners.
Washington’s Chad Boudon hit a triple to open the second inning
and Aaron Hathaway singled Boudon to put the Huskies on the board.
Taylor Johnson, who was hit by the pitch, later scored on a hit by
Tila Reynolds.
Washington (15-6) and UCI (9-15) hook up again today at Anteater
Ballpark, starting at 6 p.m.
