Hobie Sports continues early season success

Sports World wasn’t the only obstacle that Hobie Sports had to

contend with in the teams’ Majors Division encounter last weekend at

Riddle Field.

Hobie Sports overcame cold and windy conditions and a one-run

deficit at the game’s halfway point to score an 8-5 victory in the

Laguna Beach Little League.

Hobie Sports, now 2-0, got out to a three-run lead in its first

at-bat behind the hitting of Dillon Pierce, Alex Germano and Matt

Moisen.

Sports World countered with a three-run inning of its own, getting

a key bunt single by Brett Barrett and singles by Ryan Raffo and

Blake Henderson to pull even.

Hits by Justin Herbolic and Matt Pi’na in the third inning gave

Sports World another run and its only lead, 4-3.

In the bottom of the third, Hobie Sports grabbed the lead for

good, as the hitting of Chris Kennedy, Pierce, Germano and Tyler

Pierce helped produce a five-run inning for an 8-4 advantage.

Zach Johnston, Keaton Jones, Eli Viszolay, Cole Kennedy, Jackson

Christy and Nate Wilson also contributed to the Hobie Sports victory.

The pitching of Germano, Chris Kennedy and Dillon Pierce held

Sports World in check, with Pierce closing out the win by striking

out the side in the sixth.
