Right man at the right time

Orange Coast College didn’t have to look far for its new president.

The search may have started that way, but it turns out the right

person was already working for them. Heck, he was already the

president.

Despite previous retirements, Gene Farrell accepted the permanent

position -- at least for a couple years. Through June 2005, at this

point, Farrell will lead the Costa Mesa community college through

some tough economic times.

But with as much experience as he has, Farrell is the right man at

the right time. He previously served as the school’s vice chancellor

of business affairs for 12 years and has been with the Coast

Community College District for 31 years.

So if anyone can help OCC come up with some new ideas to tighten

its financial belt, it’s Farrell. And in Farrell, we trust.
