Grossman, Bears powers past Anteaters, 8-7
- Share via
Junior catcher Chris Grossman hit two home runs and drove in the
game-winning run in the 12th inning to lead Cal to an 8-7
nonconference baseball victory over UC Irvine Friday.
His ninth-inning two-run home run, after fouling off nine
consecutive pitches, send the game into extra innings.
Grossman’s efforts, 4 for 6 with a double and four RBIs in
addition to the home runs, overshadowed a 12-hit UCI attack, which
included a two-run homer by Matt Falk in the eighth inning and
doubles by Gregg Wallis, Chris Klemm and Jon Horwitz.
Horwitz’s two-run double highlighted a four-run fourth-inning.
