Youth track and field meet set for March 21

Huntington Beach High will be the competition site for the 2003

Youth Track and Field Meet on Friday, March 21.

The event, put on by the city of Huntington Beach, is open to

children born in or after 1988. All participants may enter two events

plus a relay.

Running events include the 50, 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1,600-meter

races and a 400-meter relay. Field events include the long jump, high

jump and softball throw. Certain events, however, are restricted

according to age.

Participants are encouraged to practice the week leading up to the

event.

The registration fee is $6 per athlete, $1 per spectator.

Registration begins at 3:45 p.m. the day of the event.

The first event is scheduled to begin at 4:45 p.m.

Gold Coast Xtreme soccer tryouts this weekend

Gold Coast Xtreme Soccer Club will hold its first tryout sessions

on Saturday and Sunday for its spring and fall seasons.

The tryout is open to girls born after July 31, 1993, for the league’s Under-9 and under-10 divisions.

Gold Coast Xtreme Soccer Club serves the youth of Huntington

Beach, Fountain Valley, Westminster, Newport Beach and Costa Mesa.

South Coast Soccer Club tryouts on Saturday

South Coast Soccer Club will hold tryouts on Saturday for boys and

girls who are eligible to compete in the Under-10, -12 and-14

divisions.

Tryouts will be held at Edison High, behind the school and just

off Hamilton Avenue from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Edison High is located at

21400 Magnolia St.
