Pajevic, Fitzhugh All-Stars
Newport Harbor High senior Nedim Pajevic and Sage Hill School senior
Michael Fitzhugh have been named to the 12-player South roster for
the Orange County All-Star Basketball Game, scheduled April 5 at
Orange Coast College.
Pajevic, a 6-foot-9 center, averaged 15.7 points and more than 13
rebounds to help lead the Sailors to a 16-10 record, which included a
second-place finish in the Sea View League and a berth in the CIF
Southern Section Division II-AA Playoffs.
Fitzhugh, a versatile 6-3 standout, opened the season in the post,
but wound up playing point guard for the Lightning. Averaging 22.3
points and 10.1 rebounds, he helped Sage Hill earn its first
postseason appearance and its first playoff victory, a CIF Division
IV-A first-round road triumph over Hamilton.
Among those joining Pajevic and Fitzhugh on the South squad
coached by El Toro head man and former Southern California College
(now Vanguard) standout Todd Dixon, is former Newport Harbor Sailor
George Fedorovtsev. Fedorovtsev, a 6-8 senior at Capistrano Valley,
spent his first three years at Newport Harbor.
Troy’s T.J. Hardeman will coach the North boys in the game
presented by the Costa Mesa Kiwanis.
The boys game follows a girls all-star clash, in which no
Newpor-Mesa players will compete.
