UCLA exacts revenge at Crawford Hall

The ninth-ranked UCLA men’s volleyball team avenged two earlier
losses with a 30-27, 24-30, 30-19, 30-25 victory over No. 4 UC Irvine
in front of a capacity crowd of 700 at Crawford Hall Friday.
The Bruins outhit UCI, .407-.254 and outblocked the Anteaters,
12-5, in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation matchup
UCI led 19-16 in the first game, when UCLA recorded two kills plus
an Anteater hitting error to tie the game, 20-20. The teams were
later tied at 27, before UCLA scored the next three points for the
win.
UCI senior Jarett Jensen recorded a career-high 20 kills to lead
all players, while senior Monte Tucker added 14 kills and junior
Spencer Bemus had 12 kills. Senior setter David Kniffin amassed 57
assists and junior libero Greg Ford contributed 12 digs for the
Anteaters (15-6, 8-6 in the MPSF). Chris Pena led the Bruins (12-9,
8-7) with 18 kills and seven blocks.
