Woman injured crossing highway
A 23-year-old Aliso Viejo woman was injured when she was struck by
a vehicle while crossing North Coast Highway at Irvine Cove.
When police and emergency personnel arrived at the scene, the
woman was laying in the center median of the highway conscious, but
with serious visible and internal injuries.
The 21-year-old driver of the southbound Nissan Altima that hit
the woman was not cited.
“There was no excessive speed, no drugs and no alcohol,” Sgt.
Jason Kravetz said.
Neither the driver nor his passenger suffered injuries in the
accident.
There was moderate damage to the car on the front driver’s side
and the windshield.
“The pedestrian was held at fault for the accident,” Kravetz said.
The injured woman was taken to Mission Hospital for treatment and
was listed in stable condition.
Southbound lanes of North Coast Highway were closed to traffic for
about two hours.
