* Police Department: A woman walked in and reported receiving
annoying telephone calls from her estranged husband at 7:24 p.m.
* Glenneyre Street: A sewer alarm went off in the 1500 block. It
was reported at 5:55 p.m.
* 8th Avenue/Seaview Lane: Illegal use of a leaf blower was
reported at 11:23 a.m.
* Temple Hills Drive: Illegal use of a leaf blower was reported
in the 2600 block at 10:32 a.m.
* North Coast Highway: Illegal use of a leaf blower at Smith
Cliffs in the 10000 block was reported at 9:41 a.m.
Monday
* Castle Rock Drive: A Laguna Niguel woman told police that her
brother had threatened her life at their mother’s home, it was
reported at 5:31 p.m.
* Grandview: A man reportedly trashed his apartment after he was
evicted. The incident, which is under investigation, was reported at
3:26 p.m.
* North Portola Drive: The back door to a home was found open by
a resident who thinks there may have been an intruder in the house,
it was reported at 11:43 a.m.
* Thalia Street/South Coast Highway: A 19-year-old Huntington
Beach man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled
substance. Police said they had found cocaine in the man’s vehicle,
which had been stopped by a motorcycle officer for straddling lanes.
The driver was taken to Orange County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. A
passenger in the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of being in the
area where drugs are being used and released on his own recognizance.
The incident was reported at 7:16 a.m.
* Quivera Street: A father said he saw a 21-year-old man coming
out of his 16-year-old daughter’s room and chased him down the street
in the 900 block. The incident is under investigation and was
reported at 12:27 a.m.
Sunday
* South Coast Highway: A man told police that his ex-girlfriend
scratched him during a custody exchange of their child in the 31100
block. No prosecution was desired. However, all domestic violence
complaints are sent to court, Sgt. Jason Kravetz said. The incident
was reported at 11:16 p.m.
* North Coast Highway: A wallet valued at $315, including $300 in
cash, was taken from a man by two men with a gun in the 900 block.
The incident, which is under investigation, was reported at 11:10
p.m.
* Main Beach: A toilet overflowed in the women’s bathroom at the
south end, caused by an obstruction in the lateral to the restroom,
Public Works Director Steve May said. The water was turned off. The
line was cleared Monday. The flooding was reported at 3:49 p.m.
* Allview Terrace: A roommate entrusted with a woman’s credit
card while she was out of the country reportedly used the card to
purchase a one-way ticket out of town. The incident, which is under
investigation, was reported at 11:50 a.m.
Saturday
* Gaviota Drive: A man saw a neighbor fall and called paramedics,
who found the man in full cardiac arrest. He was taken to South Coast
Medical Center, where he died. The incident was reported at 11:30
a.m.
Feb. 28
* McKnight Drive: A resident saw a blue plastic bag on his roof.
He fetched it, thinking it was a newspaper. Instead, it was filled
with feces, possibly human, police said. The resident saw similar
bags on neighbor’s roofs, it was reported at 7:04 p.m.
* St. Ann’s Drive: Police are investigating graffiti on the
wooden fence at the Laguna Beach Woman’s Club. The incident occurred
Feb. 19 and was reported at 9:48 p.m.
* Park Avenue: A student was found with a modeling knife and a
box cutter in the 2100 block. He had brought them to school for a
project. His parents were advised that such items were not allowed on
campus. The incident was reported at 1:51 p.m.
* Broadway: A camera, valued at $550, was taken from an office. A
window was smashed to gain entry, it was reported at 9:41 a.m.
* Diamond/Glenneyre streets: Three vehicles were involved in an
altercation. Two had left when police arrived, while one vehicle was
in the intersection. The 29-year-old driver was taken to South Coast
Medical Center for treatment of his right eye, which had been
punched. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence
of alcohol and released on his own recognizance. The incident was
reported at 4:10 a.m.
Feb. 27
* Encinitas Court: A resident was advised that someone had used
her credit card to shop at the now defunct K-Mart in Aliso Viejo. The
cardholders told police she had lost her wallet in the Pavilions
parking lot in February. The incident was reported at 10:01 p.m.
* Monoco Drive: An out-of-state telephone company advised a
resident that someone attempted to open an account using the
resident’s social security number and birth date, it was reported at
6:50 p.m.
* Laguna Canyon Road: A neighbor complained that McCormick
Mortuary in the 1700 block was operating its crematorium after 6
a.m., which is prohibited. Mortuary personnel told police they were
trying to finish a cremation that was only 90 percent completed the
previous night due to an equipment malfunction. The incident was
reported at 9:58 a.m.
Feb. 26
* Park Avenue: Two vending machines were damaged at Laguna Beach
High School in the 600 block. Quarters and dollar bills were taken.
The value of the loss is unknown. The incident was reported at 10:42
p.m.
* Cress Street Beach: The Orange County Bomb Squad took
possession of a cylinder that washed up on the beach. The cylinder
was stamped “Do not handle. Contains phosphorus, which can cause
serious burns. Contact police or military.” The incident was reported
at 7:05 p.m.
* South Coast Highway: Fourteen items of Victoria’s Secret
lingerie were found tucked under some bushes in the 500 block. The
items are being held for destruction. The find was reported at 1:13
p.m.
