SG Roofing sent four pitchers to the mound and used timely hitting on
the opening weekend of Laguna Beach Little League AAA Division play
to defeat Courtesy Auto Body, 7-3.
Jake Glazer, Sammy Witte, Tyler Kesler and Michael Hyden combined
to give up two hits and 15 strikeouts.
Glazer threw two clean innings with five strikeouts to start the
game.
But Courtesy Auto took a 2-0 lead when Santi Pierini and Matt
Perella were walked, eventually scoring on a throwing error.
SG Roofing responded in their first at-bat with singles by Kesler,
Glazer and Alex Gromet to tie the game.
They grabbed a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the second inning behind
an Alex Gustis single, walk to Jase Swinden, an Austin Muhlhauser
fielder’s choice and a Witte single.
SG Roofing extended their lead to 7-2 in the third with Gustis’
two-RBI single -- his second of the game.
Courtesy Auto scored its final run in the fourth inning behind
singles by Griffen McMullen and Dane Doran and a walk to Chris
Barwick.
Hyden closed the game for SG Roofing, giving up two hits while
striking out five to preserve the victory.
