Spring Into Art workshops underway
The Sawdust Festival’s Spring Into Art program allows aspiring
artists to learn from professionals without committing a lot of time
or money.
Every weekend in March aspiring artists can pick up a paintbrush
or wrap their hands around some clay with these art classes, which
offer an array of artistic media, including printmaking,
glass-blowing oil painting, watercolor painting, mosaics, glass and
casting, ceramics jewelry, silk painting and knitting.
“The Sawdust is really pleased to have our third annual Spring
Into Art classes,” Rebecca Meekma of the Sawdust Festival said.
“Because the mission of the Sawdust is to teach people about the arts
in Laguna Beach.”
All the instructors for the art classes are professional artists
who have experience teaching their medium.
“The artists teaching the classes are not just Sawdust
exhibitors,” Meekma said. “It’s a true community event.”
Classes meet from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays
for a two-day workshop. Cost for the workshops range from $50 to $250
and include all supplies, drinks and lunch. Class size is limited to
10 students. Children’s classes are one day only from 10 a.m. to 2
p.m.
