Fire in Back Bay put out quickly
A small vegetation fire in the Back Bay was put to rest in a
routine manner Monday after some slight difficulties in getting to
the flame, officials said.
Officials responded quickly to the small blaze because they did
not want it “to get out of hand,” said Edward Gallegos, a dispatch
supervisor at Newport Beach Fire and Marine Department. The location
of the fire also caused unusual challenges, as the large fire engine
was forced to travel down some dirt roads, he said.
A helicopter was also called to duty to ensure the fire was
extinguished.
Nobody was hurt, and no structures were threatened or damaged, he
said.
The minor complications were taken in stride by the Newport Beach
firefighters.
“It was nothing we couldn’t handle,” Gallegos said.
