Navigators head to Turnip Rose

Society spy Debbie Newmeyer reports that Newport Harbor High School
parents are planning a Navigators benefit for March 15 at the Turnip Rose Grand Newport Plaza. The Navigators are a dedicated support
group for the high school.
The group will gather for its 10th annual benefit, called
“Building A Better Future.”
“The party is planned as a tribute to the massive construction
project that Harbor High School is about to take,” Newmeyer said.
The evening at Turnip Rose will cost $100 per person, which covers
dinner and dancing. A tempting silent and live auction is also
planned for the evening to raise additional funds.
“Proceeds from the evening will support tutorial programs,
after-school programs, technology upgrades and the six academic
academies,” Newmeyer said

CHILDHELP DINNER
Nancy Whitlock, local president of the much-loved ChildHelp USA,
joins fellow ChildHelp volunteer Jana Shuler in inviting the
community to a March 8 dinner at the Hyatt Regency, Irvine. The
dinner is being held to support the children’s charity, which is
dedicated to the treatment and prevention of child abuse. The evening
of dining, dancing and gaming will be called “Roll The Dice For
ChildHelp USA”. Chaired by Cleo Bluth and Gisela Doniguian, the party
promises to be a wonderful night of fun on the California Riviera for
a very worthwhile cause. For reservations and ticket information,
please call Bluth at (949) 499-7611.
CHARITY FASHION SHOW
The 17th annual mother/daughter fashion show produced by the
Newport Chapter of the National Charity League Juniors will walk down
the runway on March 22nd at the Four Seasons Palm Garden. The fashion
show and luncheon will have a very chic French theme, “Belle De
Jour,” said Toni Hilton, public relations representative for the
organization.
The Saturday event is expected to attract more than 500 mothers
and daughters. The fashion show is set for 10:30 a.m. and the
luncheon at 12:30 p.m., with time in between to bid on the silent
auction.
Tickets are priced at $90 for adults and $60 for children, and
funds raised will support the High Hopes Head Injury Program, the
Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation and the Harry and Grace Steele
Children’s Center. For more information, please call Hilton at (949)
