Oldest living twins reach century mark at The Fountains
Americans are not only living longer, they are living better, thanks
to healthcare advances and the evolution of supportive living
environments which, by design, help people age well. That’s the
message that The Fountains hopes America will wake up to on March 5,
2003. On that day, Maggie White and Pat Taylor -- the oldest
identical twins living in the United States -- will celebrate their
100th birthday! The odds for twins born in 1903 to live to see their
100th birthday are said to be 1 in 700 million.
The Fountains operates 20 retirement communities in 14 states.
They specialize in creating stimulating environments that support
people in their quest for lifelong well being. The Arizona-based
company was named Business of the Year by the American Society on
Aging in 1996, the same year they opened the Fountains at Sea Bluffs
in Dana Point, where Pat and Maggie reside. The Dana Point community
was recently honored with two Best of Seniors’ Housing Design Awards
for its assisted living and memory care residences called The Inn and
The Gardens, respectively.
The Fountains, together with Pat and Maggie’s family, have planned
a suitable celebration for the famous sisters, who look forward to
their big day.
