* South Coast Highway: A hotel guest reported a hit-and-run in
the 1000 block at 7:57 a.m. Police determined that someone backed a
vehicle into the victim’s parked car. The car sustained minor damage
to the front end.
* South Coast Highway: Police responded to an accident involving
a car and a pedestrian in the 1000 block at 2:43 p.m. The driver was
taken to South Coast Medical Center for a blood-alcohol test. Mercy
Air took the pedestrian to Mission Hospital. The highway was
re-opened at 3:30 p.m.
FRIDAY
* South Coast Highway: A nightclub manager hailed an officer to
report an assault with a deadly weapon in the 1400 block at 1:27 a.m.
The suspect, a 34-year-old Costa Mesa man, was accused of striking
the victim with a glass mug. The victim was taken to South Coast
Medical Center for treatment of seven facial lacerations. The case is
under investigation.
* Forest Avenue: A store owner reported a theft in the 200 block
at 5:59 p.m. Someone walked into the store, pried open a sunglass
case and fled with 14 pairs of Christian Dior sunglasses valued at
$1,400. The case is under investigation.
SATURDAY
* Glenneyre Street: Emergency personnel responded to a medical
aid call in the 600 block at 12:25 a.m. A woman claimed she had eaten
marijuana Rice Krispy treats and her stomach was upset. She was taken
to South Coast Medical Center.
SUNDAY
* Grandview Street: A resident reported a missing person from the
200 block at 2:54 p.m. The 46-year-old man was last seen in Anaheim.
The reporting party later called back to inform police that the man
called her from jail in Tijuana.
* North Coast Highway: A gallery owner reported a grand theft in
the 300 block at 3:18 p.m. Someone ran out with a bronze statue
valued at $1,800. The case is under investigation.
MONDAY
* South Coast Highway: Police arrested a 41-year-old Laguna
Niguel man on suspicion of driving under the influence in the 600
block at 1:37 a.m.
* Brooks Street: Police were dispatched to an unattended death in
the 31000 block at 1:41 a.m. An 83-year-old Laguna Beach woman was
discovered in her bed by her son. She had a history of a stroke,
hyper-tension and angina.
* Broadway: Animal service officers were dispatched after a
report of a dog bite in the 200 block at 1:59 p.m.
* Park Avenue: Officers responded to a call about a man urinating
on himself in the 500 block at 6:52 p.m. The 54-year-old man was
arrested on suspicion of public intoxication.
* Laguna Canyon Road: Police responded to a burglary alarm in the
700 block at 10:24 p.m. They found six people behind a design firm.
They cited an 18-year-old woman for possession of less than an ounce
of marijuana and two 19-year-old women for being minors in possession
of alcohol. Police also arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of
possession of a switch blade.
* South Coast Highway: Police arrested a 31-year-old Laguna Beach
man on suspicion of driving under the influence in the 1200 block at
11:47 p.m.
TUESDAY
* North Coast Highway: Officers arrested a 60-year-old Mission
Viejo man on suspicion of assault and battery on a police officer in
the 100 block at 6:55 a.m.
* St. Ann’s Beach: A resident called police when a German
shepherd suffered an apparent heart attack at 1:17 p.m. An animal
service officer took the owner and dog to the vet.
* 8th Avenue/Hedge Lane: Firefighters and police were dispatched
to a structure fire near the intersection at 3:33 p.m. Power lines
fell on a residence.
