Rob Cullinan has announced that he is stepping down from his position
of boys’ varsity basketball coach at Laguna Beach High.
His resignation was announced last week to Laguna Beach Athletic
Director Mario Morales and the boys’ varsity team.
Cullinan’s resignation took effect at the end of the season, which
came last Friday for the Breakers following a Pacific Coast League
loss at University.
“My resignation is due to the personal and philosophical
differences that occur between the school and myself,” Cullinan said.
He coached Laguna Beach’s boys’ varsity program for the past two
years.
His final Laguna team posted an overall record of 10-16.
“Although we are not happy about not getting our 11 wins and not
going to the playoffs, much was accomplished this season, both
individually and as a team,” Cullinan said.
“We took a group of young men who struggled all spring and summer
with a record of 1-32 and turned it into a group that won a
consolation championship, played for another and won 10 games during
the regular season. That was great progress.”
