Breaker girls’ polo, boys’ soccer compete
Two Laguna Beach High winter sports teams -- girls’ water polo and
boys’ soccer -- earned berths into the CIF Southern Section playoffs
that are underway this week.
The Breakers’ girls’ water polo team, the second place entry from
the Pacific Coast League, hosted Savanna (Orange League No. 2) in an
opening round Division II game on Thursday.
A victory there would put Laguna into a quarterfinal round game on
Saturday.
The Breakers’ league rival, Corona del Mar, is the division’s top
seed.
Laguna’s boys’ soccer team is included in the Division II field.
The Breakers, the No. 3 team out of the PCL, travel Saturday to
take on Sea View League champion Woodbridge in a 3 p.m. start.
Laguna is the defending Division IV champion.
The second round of the boys’ soccer playoffs is scheduled for
Wednesday, Feb. 26.
Mission League champion Loyola is the division’s top seed.
