Newport, CdM tune up for CIF

Newport Harbor High’s girls water polo team was a 14-9 winner over

visiting Coronado Saturday, improving to 21-5.

Jenna Murphy, Annie Wight and Ashley Parole each scored three

goals, Carolyn Conway scored twice. Paige Lansing, Anne Belden and

Katie Erickson each scored a goal.

Murphy and Lansing each had two assists, Wight and Lansing each

had four steals, and Murphy and Belden each had two steals. Goalie

Terin Cottam had four saves and two assists.

* Corona del Mar (22-5) added a nonleague match at Montebello on

Saturday and swept to an 11-4 win behind the scoring of Danielle

Carlson (five goals), and two goals from Brittney Bowlus and Camille

Hewko.

Also scoring were Amy Strack and Vivian Liao. Goalie Brittany

Fullen had 14 saves.
