Sage Hill School’s boys basketball team jumped to an 18-2 lead at the
end of one quarter and kept the heat on, beating visiting Oxford
Academy, 49-24, Thursday, to secure a third-place finish in league.
The win guarantees the Lightning a spot in the CIF Southern Section
Division IV-A Playoffs.
Scott Cho (eight points, nine rebounds, three blocked shots) had
his best game of the year, according to Sage Hill Coach Steve Keith.
Michael Fitzhugh scored a game-high 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting
and made all three of his free throws. He also grabbed eight
rebounds.
Kevin Joyce tallied 10 points with three steals and Matt Loper
dished out six assists to go with six points.
“Joyce took on their leading scorer (Jorge Barboza) and did a
great job,” Keith said. “I like the way we’re going right now.”
Sage Hill improves 10-13, 5-5 in league, while Oxford falls to
4-17, 2-8.
