Tavy and Ricky
Sibling cats Tavy and Ricky are up for adoption this weekend. Tavy
is a short-haired spayed female. Ricky is an 18-pound long-haired
neutered male, with “Cheshire Cat-like qualities,” said DiAnna
Pfaff-Martin, founder of the Newport Beach-based network. Both cats
are gray and white.
Their previous owner was a senior citizen in Corona del Mar who
had to move into a senior-care facility due to health reasons. The
senior’s caregiver boarded the cats for more than four months, a
large expense for the family who told the network that the cost of
the vet hospital was more than renting a small apartment.
The cats were rescued through the network’s “home insurance
program.”
“This wonderful service supports the animals you love by finding
them a new home in case one of life’s many uncertainties happens to
you,” Pfaff-Martin said.
The cost of the program is $10 for cats, $15 for dogs and $20 for
large dogs per month.
It is an interesting coincidence, she said, that the names of the
cats come from a story called Ricky, Ticky, Tavy. It is about a
mouse-like creature who is lost and then found by nice people who
care for him.
