HB United wins three

HB United, a boys’ under-10 Division All-Star team out of AYSO

Region 56, capped a successful, three-match weekend Sunday by

defeating Region 143, 4-2, in Area K tournament play at Peterson

Elementary School.

The victory was the third in three weekend matches for HB United

as All-Star soccer play got underway.

Faris Barudi scored HB United’s first two goals, and Sam Hunt got

a first period assist.

Brett Bryant and Kyle Macleod each added single goals, and Sean

Nieman picked up an assist to complete the scoring.

Patrick Gannon and Cameron McArthur combined for a strong game in

the net. Strong defensive efforts were turned in by Ty Wilson, Johnny

Minar, Bobby Ellis and Tyler Bigenho.

under-10 Division

Gunners 4, Region 143 4

Justin Smith scored twice, and Zach Jacobs and Christian Rodriguez

each scored once, as the Gunners earned a tie in Gold All-Star

action.

Gunners 5, Region 1335 0

Justin Smith recorded a hat trick and added an assist. Zach Jacobs

and Taylor Nelson also scored.

Gunners 3, Region 55 2

Keeper Nicholas Carrigan came up with an outstanding assist when

his kick past midfield directly fed a Justin Smith goal to highlight

the Gunners’ victory.

Carrigan also had a key save, Smith also scored off a Matthew

Steinhaus throw-in, and Zach Jacobs scored once for the Gunners.

Area-K playoffs

Goal de Locks 5, Region 143 1

Haley Townsend and Hope Garski each scored twice, and Brianna

Webster posted one goal to lead the Goal de Locks on offense.

Assists went to George Demes and Alison Hensley.

The midfield play of Arielle Freleaux, Stephanie Layton and

Brianna Webster kept Region 143’s offense at bay throughout the

match.

Goal de Locks 2, Region 117 0

Keeper Shannon Bolotin played a strong match and came up with a

key save as Goal de Locks held off their sister team from Region 117.

Sweeper Kristy Verone and fullbacks Teresa Bandurian and Vicky

Hill paced the defense.

Alison Hensley and Stephanie Layton each scored, and George Dumas

had an assist for Goal de Locks.

Goal de Locks 2, Region 55 2

Haley Townsend scored two goals -- the last off an Alison Hensley

assist in the second half, as Goal de Locks rallied for a 2-2 tie.

Erika Longoria assisted Townsend’s first score in the opening

quarter.
