From 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. last Friday, 1,316 vehicles passed through
a Laguna Beach Police checkpoint on North Coast Highway.
Three hundred eighty drivers were stopped. Officers who handed out
information about driving under the influence of alcohol, checked for
sobriety and a current driver’s license.
Only five drivers were stopped for a field sobriety test and three
were arrested for driving under the influence, Sgt. Doris Higgins
said.
Six drivers were cited for being unlicensed, one had a suspended
license, and one person was arrested on an outstanding warrant for
domestic violence and threatening a witness.
