Vikings rule
The California Vikings of the City of Costa Mesa Recreation
Division’s Youth Flag Football program, went 3-0 to win a recent
tournament against Orange County teams.
The Vikings, comprised of third- and fourth-graders, won the 2002
Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation-Orange County Flag
Football Tournament C-Division championship in overtime over Santa
Ana.
Representing Costa Mesa, the Vikings (9-0) trailed Santa Ana,
12-0, in the title game .
Andrew Karlson picked off a Santa Ana pass and returned it 20
yards for a TD. On the last play of the game, Kannon Stone completed
a 10-yard pass to Andrew Dischner for a game-tying touchdown, then
won with an overtime tie-breaker.
